The Gosnells Hawks Football Club had mixed results last Saturday with the reserves, thirds and women teams winning but the league, colts and metro league teams were unsuccessful. The league team gave up a handy lead at quarter time to go down by 29 points. Final scores were Melville 17.13 (115) Gosnells 13.8 (86). Best on ground for the Hawks were Jayden Woods, Caleb Goodhew, Brent Phillis and Levi Gallagher.

The reserves carried on their excellent form with a convincing win over Melville. Gosnells took complete control in the last quarter booting 9 goals. Final scores were Gosnells 20.16 (136) Melville 4.3 (27). Brett Endersby, Michael Handgraaf, Kyle Dougan and Wayne Ninyette (9 goals) were better players for Gosnells.

The thirds continue to impress under new coach Sam Parker and remain unbeaten and equal leader on the premiership ladder with a massive percentage of 404. Final scores were Gosnells 19.17 (131) North Beach 2.3 (15). Justin Abernathy, Wade Gallagher, Sam Carlino and Aaron Gould all played well.

The colts tried hard but found Melville too strong. Final scores were Melville 19.17 (131) Gosnells 3.3 (21). Les Curley, Michael Vidich, Cailem Narkle and Jack Phillis were best players.

The women’s team broke through for their first ever win and celebrated in true Gosnells style. Final scores were Gosnells 5.3 (43) Hills Rangers 1.3 (9). Eleanor Brooks, Concetta Molinaro, Jodie Bubrzycki and Kathleen Perry were better players in an even team performance.

The Metro League team played well but found Kelmscott a little too strong on the day. The game was even for the first three quarters but Kelmscott scored three goals in the last quarter to run out winners by 15 points. Coach Stewart Divitini was disappointed with the result as he thought his team had enough chances to record a victory. Final scores were Kelmscott 10.5 (65) Gosnells 7.8 (50). Best on ground for Gosnells were Tom Hindmarsh, Michael Chaplin, Devon Coyne and Ethan Barry.

This Saturday the league, reserves and colts are home at Gosnells Oval and play Carlisle. The thirds play Swan Valley at the Swan Valley Sporting Complex at 3.20 pm.

The women’s team play Rossmoyne at Shelley Reserve at 3 pm and the metro boys are home to Safety Bay 2.30 pm both games on Sunday 24 June.
