It is with great sadness that we advise our Hawks of the passing of our Life Member Mr Ray Rayment.
Ray was a true Gosnells Hawk. Not satisfied with a club fairest and best in 1953, he followed it up as a member of the 1954 and 1957 Premiership teams playing over 100 league games. With still more to give to his beloved Gosnells, after retiring as a player in 1963 he became a trainer for the club for many years. A great all round sportsman Ray had many friends at the Bowling Club and at the Tennis Club.
Chosen in our Team of Champions at our Centenary Celebration , Ray was an ardent supporter, rarely missed a home game and as he would have probably thought fitting, was taken ill just after attending our home game two weeks ago.
He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew him. Our sincere condolences to Ray’s wife Helen and to our Life Member, their son Gary and family, to his brothers Reg, Barry, Bobby and Murray and to all of the Rayment family who have proudly, steadfastly and strongly supported our club through the good times and the bad times.
So long Ray, you have earned a rest.
The funeral cortege will assemble at the main gate Fremantle Cemetery at 9-00am Friday 19 July and family and friends will gather in remembrance at the Percy Garrett Social Rooms Cnr Walter and Terence Streets Gosnells from 11-30am.
