The Gosnells Hawks Football Club’s league team kept its finals hopes alive with a six point victory over top team Ballajura last Saturday. The Hawks need to win both remaining games over lower ranked teams and rely on either Carlisle or Melville to lose to higher ranked teams on the ladder. Coach Corey Bertram was able to improve team structure with the addition of several senior players and as a result the team played its best football of the season and delighted the large crowd by holding on to record a narrow win. Final scores were Gosnells 8.17 (65) Ballajura 8.11 (59). Best were Caleb Goodhew, Marlon Johns, Cam Hayden and Kyle Dougan. Club stalwart Levi Gallagher played his 100th club game.

The reserves lost no friends by going down by four points to top team Ballajura and hold second place on the premiership ladder with two games left to play. Coach Steve Davis has several players to return in the coming weeks and expects further improvement from his team at the business end of the season. Final Scores were Ballajura 10.7 (67) Gosnells 10.3 (63). Best for the Hawks were Wade Gallagher, Ashley Pescod, Ryan Davies and Lindsay Williams.

The thirds were far too good for Piara Waters. Final scores were Gosnells 32.16 (208) Piara Waters 2.2 (14). Best were Ruben Barham, Kyle Wood (13 goals), Cameron Pate and Thomas Stevens.

The colts continue to give their best against older opponents. Final scores were Ballajura 18.9 (117) Gosnells 4.6 (30). Raymond Shaw, Thomas Stevens, Jack Phillis and Ben Lamb were best for the Hawks.

The women’s Hawks team tried hard but Cottesloe gained the upper hand in the last quarter and went on to win by ten points. Final scores were Cottesloe 3.10 (28) Gosnells 3.0 (18). Shanyn Morrison, Megan Brooks, Ashleigh Rickard and Anita Johns played well.
