The Gosnells Hawks Football Club’s league team found the top team Bassendean far superior last Saturday. In a game that was evenly contested to half time saw Bassendean add 10 goals in the second half to run out easy winners and appear premiership favourites with only one qualifying game left to play. Final scores were Bassendean 17.11 (113) Gosnells 7.8 (50). Josh Hall played well for the Hawks.
The reserve team’s chance at finals also took a hit with a loss to Bassendean and it now appears that the team will need to come from the elimination final to win the flag. There was little between the teams for much of the day but Bassendean prevailed at the final siren. Final scores were Bassendean 12.6 (78) Gosnells 9.10 (64). Best for Gosnells were Cameron Hayden, Ashley Pescod, Ryan Davies and Coree Thomson.
The thirds continue to play out the season strongly and went down to Quinn’s District by 23 points. Final scores were Quinn’s District 8.10 (58) Gosnells 5.5 (35). Best for the Hawks were Sam Carlino, Jeremy Hilbers, Kyle Preedy and Fraser Kickett.
The colt’s team is also competing strongly with next Saturday being the final game for the season. It is important to keep this young inexperienced team together for next year. Final scores were Bassendean 14.7 (91) Gosnells 8.7 (55). Michael Vidich, Riley Skewes, Delray Jones and Nicholas Drew all played well for the Hawks.
The Gosnells Women’s Hawks team lost its third consecutive game and dropped out of the finals to finish in fifth spot on the ladder. This was a commendable performance for a team that is in only in its second year. Final scores were Bayswater 9.2 (56) Gosnells 3.6(24). Aleisha Lyfield, Kameesha Anderson, Elisha Bettenay and Tori Hogan were best players.
This Saturday the league, reserves and colt’s travel to Mills Park to play Kenwick. The thirds play Ballajura at Gosnells Oval at 2.30 pm. Entrance to PFL games is free.
