The Gosnells Hawks Football Club’s league team moved back into the top five due to a convincing victory over Stirling and unexpected losses to Melville and Carlisle. The Hawks need to win against Bullcreek Leeming this week in the last qualifying fixture to secure fourth spot and a home final. Final scores were Gosnells 18.18 (126) Stirling 4.6 (30). Best players were Jayden Woods, Robert Davis, Ryan Thompson and Marlon Johns.
The reserves had little trouble with Stirling recording a 150 point victory. Final scores were Gosnells 24.13 (157) Stirling 1.1 (7). Dean Stauborg, Wayne Ninyette (8 goals), Lindsay Williams and Nathan Hansen all performed well.
The thirds went down for only the second time this season to ECU. Final scores were ECU 11.9 (75) Gosnells 5.4 (34). Best for the Hawks were Ruben Barham, Richard Marsden, Corey Ridley and Jaxon Millsteed.
The colts again gave 100% effort against older and stronger opponents. Final scores were Canning Vale 16.6 (102) Gosnells 3.5 (23). Best were Trenayne Hodder, Raymond Shaw, Jack Phillis and Cailem Narkle.
The Hawks women’s team completed its inaugural season with a close game against Hills Rangers. Final scores were Hills Rangers 3.4 (22) Gosnells 2.4 (16). Michelle Watson, Maddison Briggs, Teisha Steenson and Sarah Patterson were best for the Hawks.
The Metro team struggled for numbers against a classy unit in Baldivis. Final scores were Baldivis 25.13 (163) Gosnells 4.6 (30). Ryan Leach, Marley Nelson, Craig Winmar and Vijay Haran were best for Gosnells.
This week the league, reserves and colts are home at Gosnells Oval, the thirds travel to Kingfisher Oval to play Ballajura and the Metro boys have a bye.
The Hawks Ladies Committee is hosting a “Ladies Day Luau” this Saturday for members. Entrance is $30 with part proceeds to charity partner White Ribbon.
