The Gosnells Hawks Football Club league dropped out of the top five for the first time this year after a 5 point loss to Bassendean. Gosnells down by 7 goals early came home strongly in the last quarter and appeared a good chance to snatch victory until torrential rain and gale force winds hit Bassendean Oval about 10 minutes from full time. Players were in almost impossible to distinguish and umpires endeavoured to umpire the game only meters from the contests because of the poor visibility. Final scores were Bassendean 10.7 (67) Gosnells 8.14 (62). Best for the Hawks were Josh Hall, Scott Lewis, Caleb Goodhew and Adam White.

The reserves came from behind to record an impressive victory and advance to a clear second on the premiership ladder. Final scores were Gosnells 8.10 (58) Bassendean 6.10 (46). Brayden Watkins, Nathan Hansen, Ryan Davies and Daniel Fitzgerald played well.

The colts tried hard and it is credit to coach Paul Clements, assistant coach Jeff Stephens and manager Karen Sansom and the lads to turn up in good numbers to enjoy a game of Australian Rules Football. Final scores were Bassendean 22.18 Gosnells 2.4 (16). Best for the Hawks were Raymond Shaw, Bryce Ugle, Jack Phillis and Aiden Gray.

The thirds had a comfortable win over Jandakot. Final scores were Gosnells18.14 (62) Jandakot 2.2 (14). Better players were Dennis Luffman, Alex Goddard, Kyle Woods and Jack Phillis.

The women’s Hawks team recorded its third win of the season with an 18 point win over University. Final scores were Gosnells 5.4 (34) University 2.4 (16). Best for the Hawks were Kathleen Kelly, Shanyn Morrison, Ashleigh Rickard and Richelle McKenzie.

The Metro team found Warwick/Greenwood too good on the day. Max Websdale, Dennis Luffman, Clayton Narkle and Carl Morrison were better players for Gosnells.

This week the league, reserves and colts play Kenwick at Mills Park, the thirds are at Gosnells Oval at 2.30 pm all on Saturday. The Metro team play Midland at North Swan Oval at 2.30pm on Sunday. The women have a bye.
