Gosnells Hawks FC cheque for $6200 made out to the Cancer Council WA.At the Annual General Meeting of the Gosnells Football and Sports Club the President and Committee showed the members a cheque for $6200 made out to the Cancer Council WA.

President Michael McCaughan informed the well attended meeting that the players led by stalwart Nathan Hansen raised the money through their own efforts with several raffles, the sale of the July 26 special event jumpers donated by Gorey Electrical and a memorabilia auction night strongly supported by club sponsors.

The players have embraced the guidance of their committee in looking to support worthy causes within the community and it is evident that the club is in a strong position both on and off the field because of the club’s team approach to include the community. Sponsors have shown that they have been impressed by the club’s continued extra efforts and delighted by the ethos within the club.

To further indicate just how community minded the club is, the club and players forwarded a cheque for $500 to the appeal to assist seriously injured Canning Vale footballer Damien Waight.

It appears that playing football at Gosnells is about building character as well.
