As President I would like to thank members, players, sponsors and everyone who contributed to our club winning the Clubs WA Award “Clubs in the Community (Special Projects). Our competition included “club heavies” Royal Perth Golf Club, Sorrento Surf Lifesaving Club and others. It is a credit to all concerned that our football club could win an award over other clubs that operate 12 months of the year. Our Special Project was fundraising for charity partner in 2016, beyondblue.

I am extremely proud of all who embraced the project and raised $7, 419 for the charity. This year with our dynamic Ladies Committee and functions arranged for 2017 we should better this amount.
Below is press release for the Examiner Newspaper hopefully to be printed in paper 22 June 2017.
Gosnells Football & Sports Clubs Win Award.

The Gosnells Football & Sports Club featured in the Clubs WA Industry Awards held at the Astral Ballroom at Crown Perth last Saturday. The club was a finalist in two categories “Clubs in the Community (Community Partnerships)” and “Clubs in the Community (Special Projects)”. The community partnership was with the Gosnells Laurel Club (Legacy) and the special project was with beyondblue, an organisation that raises awareness of men’s health issues such as depression and suicide.

The Gosnells Football Club held several fundraising events in 2016 and raised $7419 for beyondblue and was successful in winning the Industry Award for Clubs in the Community (Special Projects). President Michael McCaughan said it was very satisfying to raise money for beyondblue. He is proud of the members, players and sponsors who embraced the event. Plans are in place to improve on the amount this year.

Nominations for awards are open to all clubs in the state that are members of Clubs WA. Clubs WA celebrated 60 years of service to community clubs this year. Chief Executive Karen Giles said in her opening address “Clubs WA was formed in 1957 by the club industry to advocate for the rights of volunteer driven, not for profit clubs. Our vision is to be a strong and independent voice for the club Industry”.
