Season 2019 -Results Week 1

The new season for the Gosnells Hawks Football Club started well with the league, reserve and colt’s teams recording victories but the third senior team went down narrowly by 10 points. The women’s competition starts on the 27th April.

The league team started slowly and trailed Warnbro Swans by 5 goals in the second quarter but responded to coach Aaron Ballantyne’s half time address and added 10 goals in the second half to the opposition’s 2 to run out convincing winners by 32 points. Final scores were Gosnells 12.15 (87) Warnbro Swans 7.13 (55). Jayden Woods continued his good form from last year but it was a team effort from all players after half time that turned the game for the Hawks.

The reserves game was a struggle for both teams in the windy conditions with Gosnells prevailing by 10 points at the final siren. Final scores were Gosnells 5.15 (45) Warnbro Swans 5.5 (35). Best players for the Hawks were Michael Handgraaf, Cam Hayden, Kyle Dougan and Dennis Luffman.

The third team tried hard but found Curtin Uni Wesley superior on the day. Final scores were Curtin Uni Wesley 6.11 (47) Gosnells 5.7 (37).  Marley Nelson, Christian Agostino, Taylor and Jaxon Millsteed were best for Gosnells.

The colt’s team performed well in what was an entertaining game of Australian Rules Football holding on to win by 3 points. Final scores were Gosnells 7.12 (54) Warnbro Swans 8.3 (51). Best players were Jonathon Williams, Justin Indich, Michael Vidich and Adam Cummings.
