About the Gosnells Hawks Football Club

The Gosnells Senior Football Club was born in 1911. From humble beginnings on a borrowed ground to a paddock at the rear of the pub, the Club has grown to now occupy one of the finest facilities outside of the WAFL. Surrounded by tall Marri trees bounded by Stalker Road, Terence Street, Walter St and Hicks Street, the emerald oval is a short walk from the train station and bus stops.

A mighty grandstand, built through the generosity of local member Mr R.S.Sampson, and which proudly bears his name looks out towards the Darling Range across the green where it has witnessed many great contests of our magnificent national game.

The clubrooms, named in honour of the late Percy Garrett, player, coach, committeeman, mentor and e steemed life member is a purpose built centre with newly refurbished kitchen, dance-floor and extensive bar facilities making it ideal for functions and club activities.

Many sons of the district have gone on to play at higher levels and many players who made their reputations in state and interstate clubs have worn the blue and gold. The factor common to both is that they return because they have enjoyed their days within the club and the many re-unions are well attended.

In large proportion the returning is a result of the ethos that has been built within the club. Irrespective of creed, birth or background, the club has welcomed great and ordinary players alike and we have been blessed with the finest administrators that any club has been fortunate enough to have. A spirit of community, of mateship, of perseverance against all odds and of belonging, continues to this day, and we proudly believe that the Gosnells Football Club has made a positive difference in the direction of young lives.
